13 PERCENT | MADE in MONTREAL pres. SEUIL

SEUIL (Freak n' Chic, Eklo - FR)
HEAR (Made in Montreal)
OSTRICH (13 percent)

--

Montreal hosts the Canadian debut of SEUIL at Velvet, located in the Old Port at 420 Ste-Gabriel. The highly talented Parisian is on tour in support of his first full length LP Chamaeleonidae, recently released on Welcome To Masomenos. 13 PERCENT and MADE in MONTREAL join forces to bring to you Seuil’s long overdue appearance, as OSTRICH and HEAR complete the line-up.

Over the years, Seuil has refined his production and has proven time and again that he always stands out amongst his peers. After 10 years of classical music training in piano, jazz, and blues formation, Seuil started incorporating percussion to his studies and dove into the world of composing electronic dance music. His style can be described as dark rolling basslines complimenting the spirit of modern day, groovy, house and techno music. Seuil draws influences from the likes of Pantytec, Zip, Thomas Melchior, Cabanne, Tolga Fidan and Ricardo Villalobos. In addition to running his own Eklo imprint, he has also released on prestigious record labels such as Freak n’ Chic, Moon Harbour, Lowmidhigh Organic, Einmaleins, Leftroom, Rygular, Stock5, and Minibar just to name a few.

THE+TOUSE

THE+TOUSE: www.soundcloud.com/the-touse

A guy (Nola) walks into a bar in the Soho district of Manhattan, sits down, orders a drink, and hears pulsating rhythms that compels him to enter the sweat-drenched, after-hour debauchery that would become Nola & Nicola's first meeting. The funk was courtesy of Nicola and his bag of records. With a handshake after the show, the exchange of contact details, a stolen record of Nicola's (courtesy of Nola), and 14 missed calls later, they found themselves playing together one random Sunday afternoon at a mutual friend's apartment. Both claim that all subsequent meeting will be an attempt to recover each other's records that had been "missing" from that first Sunday afternoon of playing together. They're still meeting...and playing...and suspicious of one another.

All jokes aside, these two love to play. Word on the street is that Nola goes home every night and mixes for 6-8 hours (seriously). And if weren't for the strenuous demands of Nicola's 9-very late, he would undoubtedly be right beside him. Both exhibit very distinctive methods of mixing that mesh together rather seamlessly on the dancefloor. In 2009, they popped up in Nashville, Austin, and, of course, their hometown of New York.
